Times Higher Education recognizes UMBC as a top world university in 2015-16 rankings

Times Higher Education (THE) has named UMBC one of world’s top universities for the fourth consecutive year. THE World University Rankings “judge world class universities across all of their core missions—teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook,” utilizing metrics in 13 categories. The 2015-16 list of top 800 global universities includes 147 in the United States and highlights three in Maryland: UMBC, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland, College Park. Universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland were also well represented in the 2015-16 list. The Business Journals Ranks UMBC Among Top 100 Public Colleges

The Business Journals released their 2015 list of top U.S. public colleges today, ranking UMBC at No. 78. The list identifies public universities and colleges that offer the best educational experiences to their students. Universities were ranked according to selectivity, retention and graduation rates, reputation, tuition and housing cost, and diversity. Data from the National Center for Education Statistics and the 2012 American Community Survey helped inform the rankings. UMBC scored especially high marks in selectivity, advancement, diversity and community. UMBC Ranked Among World’s Top Universities

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) has released its annual list of the top 500 universities in the world, including UMBC as one of 146 American universities recognized. The list features prominent universities from around the globe, including many in Great Britain, Germany and China. UMBC Profiled in Princeton Review’s 2015 “Best Colleges” Book

The Princeton Review profiles UMBC in The Best 379 Colleges: 2015 Edition, published today. The book’s reviews are based on a survey of 130,000 students, measuring eight categories, such as academics, admissions selectivity, quality of life and financial aid. The colleges and universities in the book are not ranked overall, but are included based on outstanding academic programs. The book highlights UMBC’s strengths in academics.
